Portrait sketches are a faster version of the formal portrait. They are drawn in pencil or charcoal pencil, and are great fun at upscale events. The lines tend to be looser and freer than in the formal portrait. Less rollicking than caricatures, portrait sketches nevertheless capture the subject at that moment in time in which they sit for the artist. Clients can expect 6 portrait sketches per hour; the cost is $150 per hour.
